Community Event V – 23 April

Meme showing that prototyping community events are for both people interested in prototyping and people who like snacks.

What is a community evening?

A community evening is when you can work on any project you like, whether this is a hobby, some home improvement or just an excuse to finally come along. The LPL staff will be there to help you out in whatever you choose to make and its a great way to meet other prototypers. If you are thinking of starting a project in P4 or over the summer and want to hash out some details or get a better understanding of how we work, its the perfect moment to swing by.

What are the specific details?

You can arrive anytime from 16:00 to work on your project of choice whilst we provide some refreshments to keep your brain whirring. We will be there to help you learn techniques or machines but also to chat about any ideas you’ve been keeping on the back burners. The event says it ends at 17:30 but this is subject to attendance and it may go on longer.

I don’t have a project, can I still attend?

Absolutely, we have a few ‘community projects’ to give you a go at using some tools. You will also meet other people with projects who could need help, even if its just an extra thumb to hold down some tape. One of the projects we are looking for at the moment is people who might want to create house bots to fight in our battle bot competition.

Terrifying battle bot to give context to battle bot workshop.

Do I need to sign-up?

Yes! The sign up is open so as many people can come as they like. However, we need an idea of the numbers to help us ensure there is enough staff. Use this community night sign-up link to let us know you are coming.
